Summer Sketching on Cape Ann with Pen & Ink and Watercolor Aug 13, 14
(this course offered through Rockport Art Association)
What a great way to capture the busy waterfront, narrow streets and sea views of this New England treasure. Leave the easel at home! We will sit on stools and work in watercolor sketchbooks. Using waterproof ink pens and small watercolor sets we will grab the essence, leave out the details, and make visual memories last. The ease of carrying just a few tools allows us to move and sketch at different locations each day. The day begins with a demo by the instructor, and ends with a group discussion and sharing in an informal group critique
(Finished...It was GREAT!)

Monday, July 25 - Friday, July 29

Perfect for painters - a good sketch can turn into a great painting! Using a good quality book, the combination of pen and ink along with watercolor is inspiring and satisfying. You will learn the tips to capture the essence of a scene and let go of the pressure to be precise. Learn different drawing techniques and approaches for measuring and improving perspective. Whether you are traveling, sitting quietly on a bench, or inside a crowded cafe, the art of sketching is great way to slow down, record an experience, or practice being in the moment.
